Carving Pumpkins

I'm way behind on blogging and will do a 1st Halloween post after Sunday, but we carved pumpkins tonight and I wanted to post some pictures to tide the grandparents over. Enjoy!
Dad getting them ready...

Checking out what's inside

Having a taste...everything goes in the mouth these days!
We (Kole) only got one pumpkin carved before she was ready to go to bed. I finished the other one after she went down, she'll have to wait until tomorrow to see it. She was pretty fascinated by the pumpkins!

1st Pumpkin Patch

Payton and I joined Marjie and Lexi at one of our local pumpkin patches. It's a tradition Marjie and Lexi have had for many years and I have gotten to join them the last two years. We love experiencing all of Payton's firsts and it's always especially neat when Lexi is there too as she was such a huge part of my life for so long (and still is!) and I love that she is now a big part of my daughter's life. It was cold and kind of rainy, but we didn't mind! Enjoy the pictures!

Celebrating

My last day at CHI was Wednesday and I start my new job on Monday so Kole and I decided it was was cause for celebration, it's till been 80 degrees here so we decided happy hour on the Lodo's rooftop was the perfect spot! As you can see the views are pretty great. The last couple of months have been rough for me as my company moved further south right after I returned from maternity leave, leaving me with an hour+ one way commute. In order to avoid rush hour and a 2 hour morning commute I had been leaving the house, in the dark, before Payton was awake. Not the best way for a new mom to start her day. Also for other reasons I won't get into, there were aspects of my job over the last couple years that were emotionally draining. It's all in the past now, thank God! My new job is part-time and 15 minutes away in Louisville. I am so looking forward to a fresh start and more time with my precious daughter and wonderful husband.

Eating out is a totally different experience now. It's something Kole and I have always enjoyed and didn't want to give up so now we go early (Payton turns into a pumpkin around 6:30, it ain't pretty), take turns eating and feeding, and are usually in and out in about an hour.
If you don't have happy hour, you won't be seeing us anytime soon!

Payton goes crazy for anything we are eating and/or drinking. If you are consuming it she wants it and she's quick!

Don't worry, there was no infant alcohol consumption in the making of this post!

6 Months

On Wednesday, October 6th Payton turned 6 months old! I can't believe it. Everyone (seriously every person I've talked to since Payton was born) tells you "it goes by so fast" and it's true. The last 6 months have flown by. We have been blessed with a healthy, happy, easy daughter and for that we are extremely thankful! We took her to her 6 month check up yesterday and her Dr. said she is doing great. We decided when Payton was born we would delay getting her vaccinated. I did a lot of research and we decided we would wait until she was at least 6 months before she'd receive any vaccinations. Our doctor has been supportive of our decision (it's pretty common in CO especially the closer to Boulder you get) and great about giving us information. Since she is 6 months and we are heading into winter we decided it was best for Payton to get a flu vaccine as well as two other respiratory vaccinations so she would protected. She did great getting her first shots, only cried for a few seconds after the initial "stick", in fact she was more upset by the Dr. examining her then she was by the shots. We don't go back until she is 9 months, which I'm sure will be here before we know it!
Payton @ 6 months
Measurements: 27 inches - 90 percentile, 16 pounds 11 ounces - 66 percentile, she definitely had a growth spurt since her 4 month check up!
Food: Still on bottles and a combination of mom's milk and formula. She's still eating one meal of solids at dinner time and has had, rice and oatmeal cereal, avocado, sweet potato, pear and banana, she'll probably be ready for a second meal soon
Sleep: Still sleeping through the night, around 11-12 hours, it's pure bliss! 3-4 hours of napping between a morning and afternoon nap.
New Tricks: Sitting un-supported for short periods of time and playing with toys, lots of babbling!

Aunt Kelsey gave her this bath duck and she is finally big enough to use it, she thinks it's pretty fun.

She loves to look at herself in the mirror!
