Two Months

On June 5th the little man turned 2 months! Our second month was a bit easier then the first month, but still just as chaotic. We got more sleep in the second month which helped immensely, and we all figured out life with two little ones a little bit more. Our doctor did put him on some medicine for his reflux and it definitely decreased the amount of spit up, but not sure it helped the pain he seems to be in immediately after eating. He hates it and has gotten to the point where he knows it's coming and fights us, I tasted it to see what all the fuss was about and I can't blame him, it's pretty gross. We're getting closer to the sleep-eat-play routine that we like to have, but no where near an actual schedule, which is to be expected. Hopefully by 3 months we will have settled in to a more regular schedule. Payton still loves him and is very sweet and mostly gentle with him. She still think he always needs a paci and let's us know when he is crying. He's pretty sweet and seems to be a little more laid back then his big sis, but time will tell...
Grant Robert @ 2 months:
Measurements: 11 pounds 6 ounces - 23rd percentile, 23 inches- 87th percentile, so he is long and lean! I was surprised at where he fell on the chart for weight because he has rolls on his legs, but I guess he is just long
Sleep: at night he is sleeping from about 8:30ish until 4-5, we had several mornings in the 5 o'clock hour and thought we were home free, but it was just a fluke it's much more common to be up around 4am, which is about the works time for me because it's too early to get up for the day, but too close to 6am to go back to sleep, I always end up feeling really groggy in the mornings. Hopefully 5am will become the norm soon as I am just fine with sleeping soundly until then and then getting up to start my day. He will take some regular naps around 1-1/2 hours a couple of times a day and is doing better at taking at least one in his bed
Eating: he is still eating every 2 hours during the day and our doctor said it was time to start stretching him to 3 hours, I was much better about making Payton wait, but will work on it with him. He still nurses mostly, but takes a bottle at night and when I am gone. He will drink formula too, we sometimes give him that at night so he is used to it later, but it doesn't seem to help him sleep any longer
Tricks: He started smiling on purpose and cooing right around 6 weeks and seems to do both more each day. When he does figure out how to control his voice he is pretty loud, looks like we're in for 2 chatty kids. His hair still stands straight up most of the time and he doesn't seem to be losing a ton of it and his eyes are still pretty blue. Payton gets the biggest smiles and he will look all around a room to find her when he hears her voice, it's pretty cute.

Comparison at 2 months

Flower Girl

Kole's cousin Cary and her fiance Todd got married in Estes Park, CO and asked Payton to be the Flower Girl in their wedding. I forgot how beautiful Estes is, it's been several years since I have been up there. The wedding was the weekend after Memorial weekend which we had spent in Keystone so we packed the kids up again to head out for the weekend. The back of our Rav4 was completely full both weekends, I cannot believe how much stuff it takes for a 2 year old and a 2 month old for just a weekend! Lot's of Kole's family made the trip for the big day and Grandma, Grandpa, Great Grandma, Uncle Kyle and Aunt Suzie came a few days ahead of time to visit and stay with us. We had a houseful, but it was lots of fun and Payton loved having so many of her people around.

Would love to know what they were chatting about...

Rehearsal - she didn't really rehearse much before the wedding, but she thought it was pretty cool to be a part of the "important crowd"

This picture cracks me up, she was standing there listening to the wedding planner like she knew what she was doing. The site for the ceremony was right in front of Standley Hotel, it was absolutely gorgeous.

All dressed for the big event. We got her dress at David's Bridal and I (with the help of Sarah, Grandma Audrey, Aunt Suzie, and Janaan) made her sash. Her (real) pearl bracelet is from Papa, this is the first time she has been able to wear it without it being too lose and me worried it would fall off.

Getting her rose petals, I think this is where it began to all come together for her, we had a quick practice of dropping petals as she walked around the hotel lobby and she was ready for the big show.

She walked down the aisle with the ring bearer throwing her petals, and went and stood with the Maid of Honor. We were so proud (and incredibly relieved) that she did so well

She did great until about the last few minutes of the ceremony, she started playing with her basket and putting it on her head. When she looked around for approval she was met with Grandpa shaking his head back and forth which only instigated further basket playing, she would put it on her heard or over her face and say pretty loudly "like this?". It was pretty funny and hopefully not too disruptive for Cary and Todd

Totally worn out by such a huge responsibility, she was so exhausted we didn't even make it to dinner at the reception. Oh well, she did a great job and such is life with two little ones.

Thank you Cary and Todd for inviting us to be a part of your special day, I hope it was all you dreamed and thanks to Kole's fam for making it possible for us to be there with out totally losing our minds. We love you!!

Weekend Getaway

We spend Memorial Day weekend up in Keystone at our family condo. It was 3 days and 3 nights of relaxation that we didn't know we desperately needed. The weather was a little on the cool side, but it was sunny and beautiful and quiet! We took full advantage of my mom, sister and Josh who were so gracious to lend helping hands throughout the weekend. All the pics are from phones so the quality isn't the greatest, but still captured the moments.
Sunday we took a hike with my mom, somehow she managed to avoid the camera though. This was Payton's first ride in a backpack, she was excited about it, but after about a minute in the confining contraption she wanted out. We ignored her pleas and began our hike, she settled right in and ended up loving every minute of it! Grant slept the whole time on me in the front pack.

We had the pool and hot tub all to ourselves each time we went. Payton did really well, going under and becoming more independent in the water.
Grant's first swim, he didn't leave the first step, but he was pretty content in the water despite the fact that the temperature was much cooler then that of his bath water.

Trying out her new goggles from Nana, she thought they were pretty neat!

One of our wonderful walks we took to the Keystone Village for dinner

Enjoying the creek, Pepper joined us for the weekend too
By Monday afternoon Kels, Josh and my mom headed back down the mountain and only the four of us remained. We stayed an extra night to head down Tuesday morning and avoid getting stuck in Memorial Day traffic. We missed our company, but managed to have an incredible day as a family of four. After nap we strolled down to River Run, only to find it was closed for mud season so we jumped on the shuttle and rode back to the village, where we had our second meal at the pizza place that overlooks the lake. Payton loved our ride on the "big bus" and you couldn't beat the view from our late afternoon dinner, it was so peaceful.

baby geese, we got to feed them and Payton was thrilled

Grant enjoyed dinner from his seat as it was pretty windy, he's sporting Payton's USC hat in honor of Uncle Brian!

A very big thanks to my mom for inviting us to crash her weekend getaway, it was just what we needed!
